Wedding Prep at Stratton Court Barn
Skye & Denzels wedding day began with Denzel getting ready in a nearby hotel in Oxfordshire, whilst Skye and her bridesmaids got ready in the bridal room at Stratton Court barn. A stunning barn wedding venue surrounded by acres of land and a rose garden. I arrived around 12pm as the bridesmaids were mainly ready and I had some time to shoot the brides detail shots and dress shots before getting some candid images of the group together and some of the bride getting ready.
Wedding Ceremony
The ceremony room was full of friends and family. Subtle but effective décor brought the room together with its light and airy feel. As the bridesmaids walk down the isle, I get to see Denzels excitement waiting for his wife to be to walk down next. The moment arrives as Skye walks down the isle, she chooses to do this alone and the moment Denzel turns around to see his beautiful bride, he bursts into tears. Whilst Skye mentioned earlier she would never cry, we all got to see her shred a tear as she reached the end of the isle.
Group Shots
The ceremony ends, and after we get the confetti shots, I moved straight onto the group shots. It was the perfect hot sunny day which I made great use for back lit photos. I started with the big group shot of everyone and then got the families to take a walk to the rose gardens for smaller group shots. Everyone else, got to enjoy the prosecco and sunshine in the spacious courtyard.
Couple Portraits
After all the family shots, I managed to get some time with Skye & Denzel for a few couple portraits in and around the rose garden. Skye and Denzel decided to get a bit more comfortable for these photos removing his jacket and her veil. Couple portraits are my favourite part of the day as you truly feel the love in the air with the newly weds. Your wedding day is such a long busy day that a lot of my couples regret not spending as much time with their partner to remember. So set some time aside to take the day in with your partner and let me capture those special moments to always look back on.
Wedding Breakfast & Speeches
Whilst all the guests were outside enjoying the atmosphere, the team at Stratton Court Barn were busy flipping the ceremony over to the wedding breakfast, and how stunning it did look! They did a great job. This was my time to take a quiet break and enjoy some of the amazing food.
Dessert plates cleared, and It was time for the speeches and lets say the groom shred a good few more tears. Telling us his and his wifes story was a really nice touch to share with everyone and for me to capture. The best men then took over the mic to bring everyone to pure smiles and laughter. They finished off with the grooms dad expressing a heart felt speech that touched us all.
Evening Couple Portraits
With speeches complete, I caught up with Skye & Denzel to take them away for 30 minutes or so of more portraits. The angels above must have been looking down on their day this day as the sunset was beautiful! We first went to the open fields and got some stunning landscape images of the couple (by this time they had a few drinks which made the moment more intimate to capture as they were both at ease) We then took a small walk down to the nearby lake as the purple sky came out to get some more beautiful shots of them both.
Cake Cutting & First Dance
The time arrived for the last signature shots of a wedding day. Skye & Denzel cut their cake and took away the dancefloor with their first dance. Although they wasn't a big fan of the first dance moment, they soon relaxed and before they knew it, their guests were beside them dancing together before the beat dropped and the real party began. A few snaps later, it was my time to depart.
It was such a beautiful day, I am so happy I got to capture this for Skye & Denzel!!
